Pay Affiliates with Tipalti

Connect your Tipalti account and send a mass payment batch to it in one click. Tipalti collects bank details and tax forms from your affiliates and pays them; AffClix marks each invoice paid as soon as Tipalti reports the payment.

How It Works

  1. You connect Tipalti once, under Affiliates → Mass Payments → Tipalti.
  2. Tipalti becomes a payout method your affiliates can choose.
  3. You build a payment batch as usual and press Send to Tipalti.
  4. After you approve the batch inside Tipalti, Tipalti pays each affiliate and tells AffClix. The invoice is marked paid automatically.

Invoices for affiliates on any other payout method stay in the batch and are paid the usual way, with the CSV export and Mark Batch Paid. Invoices & Mass Payments

Connecting Tipalti

  1. Create an API app in Tipalti

In the Tipalti Developer Hub, create an app that uses the client credentials flow, with these scopes:

    tipalti.api.payee.readtipalti.api.payee.writetipalti.api.payment-batch.readtipalti.api.payment-batch.writetipalti.api.payment.read

  2. Open Mass Payments → Tipalti in AffClix

Choose the environment. Sandbox moves no real money; production pays for real. They are separate Tipalti accounts with separate credentials.

  3. Paste the credentials

Client ID, Client Secret and Webhook Secret (from Tipalti Hub → Administration → API integration → Webhook setup). Add a Payer Entity ID only if your Tipalti account has several payer entities.

  4. Set the payee reference prefix

Affiliates are created in Tipalti as prefix + affiliate ID, for example AFF-1042.

  5. Tick "Send payments through Tipalti" and click Save & Test Connection

The credentials are tested straight away and the status changes to Connected. Secrets are stored encrypted; leave a secret field blank later to keep the saved one.

Set the prefix before the first payout

Changing it later makes existing affiliates look new to Tipalti, and they are asked to onboard again.

Make sure Tipalti is switched on in Settings → Platform Settings → Affiliate Portal → Payout Methods, so affiliates can pick it in their portal.

Status Webhook

After you save, the page shows a Listener URL. In Tipalti Hub → Administration → API integration → Webhooks, add that URL and subscribe it to:

paymentSubmittedpaymentCompletedpaymentErrorpaymentDeferredpaymentCanceledpaymentGroupApprovedpaymentGroupDeclined

Webhooks are checked against the Webhook Secret; unsigned or old messages are refused. Payments are also re-checked every 15 minutes, so a missed webhook only delays the update. Without a Webhook Secret, updates arrive only through that 15-minute sync.

Sending a Batch

  1. Create a payment batch in Affiliates → Mass Payments.
  2. On the batch page, click Send to Tipalti. The button shows how many payments use the Tipalti method.
  3. Affiliates who are not yet in Tipalti are created there. Tipalti e-mails them to add bank details and tax forms.
  4. Approve the payment batch in your Tipalti account. Tipalti pays only after that approval.
  5. The batch shows Processing and "via Tipalti" until every payment finishes. Use Sync Status to refresh it now.
Invoices stay locked. While a payment is with Tipalti, its invoice cannot go into another batch.
Mixed batches. Mark Batch Paid records payment only for the invoices not handled by Tipalti.
Batch size. Tipalti accepts up to 5,000 payments per batch.

Payment Results

Tipalti reportsWhat AffClix does
Paid / ClearedRecords the payment on the invoice and marks it Received.
Rejected / Cancelled / DeclinedReleases the invoice so it is payable again in a new batch.
DeferredKeeps it pending, usually while the affiliate finishes onboarding in Tipalti.

If the upload to Tipalti fails, the batch reopens so you can fix the cause and send it again.

Switching Tipalti Off

Click Switch off on the Tipalti page. Payments already sent keep syncing until they finish; new batches can no longer be sent.
