Amazon Associates Integration

Credit the Amazon sales your partners drive: AffClix reads your Amazon Associates datafeed every hour, matches each conversion to the partner through the sub tag, and reverses commission on returns.

Overview

Amazon Associates has no webhooks and no order API, but it publishes earnings reports on the Associates datafeed. AffClix downloads those reports every hour. Every outbound link carries your Store ID as tag and the AffClix click ID as ascsubtag; Amazon reports the sub tag with each conversion, and that is how the sale is matched to the partner.

Amazon’s reports do not include an order number, so AffClix builds a stable ID for each conversion from its click, product, date, quantity and value. That keeps repeated reads from double-counting and lets a return reverse exactly the sale it belongs to.

Why this integration matters

  • Pay partners on Amazon sales — each conversion is credited to the partner whose link carried the click.
  • Returns handled for you — Amazon reports a return as a negative row; AffClix turns it into a refund and reverses the commission.
  • Organic sales kept out — conversions with no sub tag are your store’s own traffic and are skipped, so partners are never paid for them.
  • Late changes caught — Amazon revises earlier days, so every sync re-reads the last 14 days.
  • Nothing to install — a datafeed credential pair and your Store ID are all it needs.

Prerequisites

  • An AffClix plan that includes E-commerce — the Integrations → E-commerce menu.
  • An Amazon Associates account with datafeed access, and its Credential ID and Credential Secret. These are issued separately from your Associates login.
  • Your Store ID (for example yourstore-21) and the region your account belongs to.
  • An advertiser in AffClix to own the store.
  • Website traffic. Amazon Associates attributes website visits only — purchases made in the Amazon app are not reported.

Step 1: Collect your Amazon Associates details

01

Find your Store ID

Sign in to Amazon Associates. Your Store ID is shown at the top right of the panel. It is also the tag value on your links.

02

Get the datafeed credentials

Request or open your Associates datafeed credentials and copy the Credential ID and Credential Secret. Do not use your Associates password — it will not work.

03

Note your region

Accounts are served from one of three datafeed hosts: North America, Europe or Far East. Pick the one for the marketplace your Store ID belongs to; the wrong region is refused.

Step 2: Add the Amazon integration in AffClix

01

Open E-commerce integrations

Go to Integrations → E-commerce, open the Integrations tab and click Add Integration.

02

Choose Amazon Associates

Pick the Amazon Associates tile. Amazon is pull-only, so there is no webhook card to fill in.

Pick the platform; marketplaces sit beside the webhook-based stores.
03

Name the store and choose its owner

Enter an Integration Name such as Amazon – India, and choose the advertiser under Store Owner.

04

Enter the credentials

Paste the Credential ID, Credential Secret and Store ID, and choose the Associates Region.

Amazon needs the datafeed credential pair, your Store ID and the region.
05

Save and test

Click Create Integration. On the store’s edit page, Test Connection asks the datafeed for your report list to confirm the credentials and region.

No product sync for Amazon

The datafeed carries earnings, not a product catalogue, so the Sync Products button is not shown for Amazon integrations.

Step 3: Send partner traffic with the sub tag

Every Amazon link must carry your Store ID and the AffClix click ID. Set this once in the campaign’s landing URL.

01

Set the campaign landing URL

Use the Amazon page as the landing URL and add tag=YOUR_STORE_ID&ascsubtag={click_id}, for example https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0XXXXXXX?tag=yourstore-21&ascsubtag={click_id}.

02

Test a link

Open a partner’s tracking link and check that the Amazon URL shows a real click ID after ascsubtag=.

Without ascsubtag, a sale counts as organic

Amazon reports every sale on your Store ID, including your own visitors’. Only rows that carry a sub tag are attributed; the rest are ignored and never reach your orders.

Step 4: Sync conversions and check the result

01

Wait for the hourly sync, or run one now

Reports are read every hour. To read them straight away, open the store and click Sync Orders.

02

Check the orders

Open the E-commerce Orders tab. Each attributed Amazon conversion appears with its value and the partner it was credited to.

03

Allow for Amazon’s delay

Amazon usually publishes a day’s conversions the following day and can revise them later; the 14-day window picks up those revisions.

Real-life example

A review site sends readers to Amazon through AffClix. Its store pays partners 60% of the Associates fee on every sale they drive.

  1. A reader clicks a partner’s “Check price” link and lands on Amazon with tag=reviewhub-21&ascsubtag= followed by the AffClix click ID.
  2. The reader buys a coffee machine for ₹12,500. The next day Amazon’s report lists the sale with the sub tag.
  3. The hourly sync reads the report, matches the sub tag to the click, and records the sale with the partner’s commission.
  4. Ten days later the reader returns the machine. Amazon adds a negative row; the next sync records a refund and reverses the commission.

Result: partners are paid on the Amazon sales they drive and nothing else — organic sales stay out, and returns undo the commission they created.

Managing and monitoring the integration

  • Last sync — the store page shows when reports were last read, and Amazon’s error message if the last read failed.
  • Sync Orders — read the datafeed now; it re-reads the same 14-day window.
  • Test Connection — confirms the credentials and region with Amazon.
  • New customers only — Amazon’s reports say nothing about the buyer, so every Amazon conversion is treated as a new customer. Do not use new-customer payout rates on an Amazon store.
  • Pause — switching the integration to inactive stops syncing without losing its settings or orders.

How Amazon report rows are handled

Each row in an Amazon earnings report becomes one of the following:

Report rowWhat AffClix does
Sale with a sub tagRecords a paid order for the partner who owns the click.
Sale without a sub tagSkips it as organic — no partner is credited.
Negative row (return)Records a refund and reverses the commission of the matching sale.

Test Connection answers 401The Associates login password was entered instead of the datafeed secret.Use the Credential Secret issued with the Credential ID.
Every row is skippedLinks did not carry ascsubtag with the click ID.Fix the campaign landing URL (Step 3) and test a partner link.
App purchases are missingAmazon Associates does not report purchases made in the Amazon app.Nothing to fix — this is an Amazon limitation.

Conclusion

With Amazon Associates connected, the sales your partners send to Amazon are tracked and commissioned like any other store’s — attributed through the sub tag, kept free of organic traffic, and corrected automatically when a customer returns an item.

Note

Only website traffic is attributed, and only rows with a sub tag are credited to partners. Make sure every campaign pointing at Amazon uses the landing URL from Step 3.
